LEGISLATION IS COMING TO PROTECT SILENCE YOU.

What's going on?

The Federal (and some provincial) govenrments of Canada have expressed strong support for banning under 16's from social media, and chatbots like ChatGPT.

This is a direct attack on our freedom of expression,

guaranteed by section 2(b) of the charter.

Information is Power

By banning tools like AI and forums, the government is creating a "digital divide." Those with the skills will find a way, while those without will be left behind.

Where are we now?

At the April 2026 Liberal policy convention, members passed a non-binding resolution calling for a minimum age of 16 to access social media and AI chatbots.

Culture Minister Marc Miller has reconvened expert panels to study how to implement these age restrictions and how to regulate "addictive engagement designs" (infinite scrolls and algorithms).

Your Voice Matters

Don't let them decide your future without your input.

If addictive designs by platforms like Tiktok are bad, there is room for REGULATION, not banning it. In this ban it would likely affect forums like Reddit aswell that aren't as harmful.

Send an email (or handwritten mail) to your MP (Member of Parliament) explaining why you don't support this.

Make an email explaining why you don't want social media, forums and AI tools banned.

What can you do?

If legislation moves forward with this censorship, there are several options.

VPN's will likely remain the best choice for bypassing this ban. They make your location appear to be somewhere else.

There are plenty of free VPN's, however they might get detected by social media sites. In the case these laws continue to progress, I will add more information here.
